After breast cancer treatment, close follow-up of the patient is very important. Because this disease can recur depending on its stage. At earlier stages, there is lower the probability of recurrence.
It is obligatory to see a patient every three months for the first three years, every six months for the next two years, and once a year for the next five years.
It is very helpful if the staff who will follow up the patient are the surgeon performed the operation, the medical oncologist or radiation oncologist who contributes the treatment.
In this process, doctor’s examination, some imaging tests and blood tests are required. The aim here is to catch recurrence very early, if there is.
When the recurrence is caught early, we can prevent our patients from potential harms.
